Add GST to a price or take it out of a total, with the CGST and SGST or IGST split, in one step.
- Quoting a price with GST
- Finding the base price inside a GST total
- Checking an invoice before you send it
Your amount
Main GST rates are 5%, 18% and 40%; gold and jewellery 3%. A few items still have other rates, so use "Other" for those. Check the rate for your goods or service before you invoice.
How it works
Adding GST
GST = amount × rate ÷ 100. Total = amount + GST. ₹10,000 at 18% is ₹1,800 GST, ₹11,800 in all.
Removing GST
Amount before GST = total × 100 ÷ (100 + rate). ₹11,800 at 18% is ₹10,000 before GST and ₹1,800 GST.
CGST and SGST
When you sell within your state, the GST is split half and half: 18% becomes 9% CGST and 9% SGST.
IGST
When you sell to another state, the whole GST is IGST. Exports and SEZ supplies follow their own rules.
