Good to know
Gate
Many plans pay nothing below a minimum achievement, often 60% to 80% of target. It stops paying for very weak months.
Accelerator
A higher rate on sales above target rewards over-achievers and keeps them selling after they hit the number.
Keep it simple
Sales people should be able to work out their payout in their head. One gate, one rate and one accelerator is enough for most teams.
Write it down
Put the plan in writing for each period, including how returns and unpaid invoices are handled.
