Good to know
Hires join mid-quarter
The planner counts each quarter's hires for half of that quarter, then fully after. It is a fair average when hiring is spread out.
Run-rate
Next year's cost if no one else joins or leaves: year-end headcount × cost per person.
Plan for attrition
If 15% of people leave, you must hire extra just to stand still. Add replacement hires to each quarter.
Hiring capacity
Check you can actually hire this many. Try the free hiring ramp planner for recruiters and offers needed.
Questions people ask
Is it free? Do I need to sign up?
Yes, it is free and you do not need to sign up. Open it and use it as often as you like.
Is my data safe?
The numbers are worked out in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to USR unless you choose to email yourself the result.
How accurate is the result?
It is an estimate based on the rules shown on this page as of November 2026, not legal or tax advice. Rules and rates change, so check with your CA before you act.
Why are hires only half-counted?
People join through the quarter, so on average they cost half of that quarter.
Does it include attrition?
Not directly. Add replacement hires to each quarter.
