Good to know
Why it matters
A weaker rupee makes the same India cost cheaper in dollars; a stronger rupee makes it dearer. A few rupees move a large budget by lakhs of dollars.
Budget rate
The rate HQ uses to set the year's USD budget. Agree it with HQ finance at the start of the year.
Hedging
Forward contracts can fix the rate for future payments. Talk to your bank and HQ treasury; this tool does not give hedging advice.
Cost-plus billing
If India bills HQ at cost plus a mark-up, the invoice is in rupees or dollars by agreement. See our cost-plus invoice tool.

Is it free? Do I need to sign up?
Yes, it is free and you do not need to sign up. Open it and use it as often as you like.
Is my data safe?
The numbers are worked out in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to USR unless you choose to email yourself the result.
How accurate is the result?
It is an estimate based on the rules shown on this page as of November 2026, not legal or tax advice. Rules and rates change, so check with your CA before you act.
Does a weaker rupee help?
Yes, for a GCC paid in dollars: the same rupee cost needs fewer dollars.
Is this hedging advice?
No. Talk to your bank and HQ treasury about forward contracts.
