The rate
Overtime is paid at no less than twice the normal rate of wages, for work beyond the normal hours of a day or week.
Normal rate
This tool divides monthly wages by working days and normal hours. Your state rules or agreement may set a different method.
Limits
States set the most overtime hours allowed in a quarter. Check your state's rule and the worker's consent.
Keep a register
Record overtime hours and pay for each worker. It is one of the first registers an inspector asks for.
